Vice Chairman Đỗ Tâm Hiển: Boosting investment attraction and infrastructure development for Economic and Industrial Zones

On November 28, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Đỗ Tâm Hiển chaired a working session with the Dung Quất Economic Zone and Quảng Ngãi Industrial Parks Authority (the Authority) to review its performance in 2025 and discuss plans for 2026.

Attending the meeting were Lương Kim Sơn, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Head of the Authority, and leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and localities via online connection.

Reportedly, in recent years, economic and industrial zones have attracted major projects, including the upgrade and expansion of Dung Quất Oil Refinery, Hòa Phát Steel Complex Phases 1 and 2, VSIP II Quảng Ngãi Industrial Park, Hòa Phát Dung Quất rail and special steel production, herbal processing plants, and port, power, and water infrastructure projects. These have contributed significantly to energy security and industrial growth.

Since early 2025, the Authority has approved 14 new projects with registered capital of over VNĐ 12,843 billion, and adjusted capital for 16 projects with an additional VNĐ 7,890 billion. Total new and adjusted capital reached VNĐ 20,733 billion, equal to 279.5 per cent of the plan and 472 per cent higher than the same period in 2024.

Currently, 449 projects remain valid with total registered capital of about US$ 19.23 billion; 347 projects are operational, creating jobs for more than 80,000 workers.

Business operations in 2025 remained stable, with key indicators exceeding targets. Processing, metallurgy, and petrochemical industries continued to be the pillars, while services and trade grew strongly.

For 2026, economic and industrial zones aim to attract US$ 2.3 billion in investment, contribute VNĐ 28,000 billion to the state budget, generate VNĐ 394 billion in customs revenue at Bờ Y border gate, and create 3,000 new jobs.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Đỗ Tâm Hiển praised the achievements of the Authority in 2025, noting their role in improving the province’s investment environment.

He urged the Authority to further strengthen investment attraction, prioritize non-budget and FDI projects, streamline administrative procedures, and enhance internal efficiency. Hiển emphasized close coordination with departments and localities to resolve difficulties, implement inspection conclusions, and promptly report issues to the Provincial People’s Committee.

The Vice Chairman assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to develop a specific compensation mechanism for Dung Quất Economic Zone and propose suitable policies for industrial parks.
