QUẢNG NGÃI — Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Trần Phước Hiền worked with the provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations on Thursday morning to review its recent performance and discuss tasks for the coming period.
Following its merger, the Union now comprises 35 member associations with more than 27,000 members.
It has focused on uniting and developing the province’s intellectual community; disseminating scientific knowledge; providing consultancy and feedback on socio-economic development schemes; implementing science and technology tasks; and organising annual technical innovation contests.
In 2025, the Union has coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation to hold numerous conferences on Party guidelines and State policies, attracting more than 1,000 participants.
Communication channels such as the Science and Life Bulletin, official website, Zalo group “Liên hiệp Hội Quảng Ngãi”, and the Intellectual Forum have been maintained effectively, helping spread knowledge and strengthen member engagement.
The Union also successfully organised the Youth and Children Innovation Contest, the Technical Innovation Contest, and the Quảng Ngãi Robotics Innovation Contest.
Many award-winning scientific and technological initiatives from these competitions were nominated for national-level events.
Notably, the Union conducted 34 consultancy and feedback tasks on major provincial projects and participated in meetings held by the Provincial People’s Committee and various departments, contributing to improved policymaking and implementation.
At the meeting, the Union proposed that the Provincial People’s Committee issue a new decision to replace Decision No. 02/2013/QĐ-UBND on State management of associations, and amend related documents to align with the post-merger structure.
It also requested regulations on its specialised activities after being placed under the Việt Nam Fatherland Front system, as well as support for facilities and equipment.
Vice Chairman Hiền praised the Union’s achievements and reaffirmed the province’s appreciation for its role, especially in consultancy and policy review.
He emphasised that the Provincial People’s Committee would continue supporting the Union to enhance its effectiveness.
He asked the Union to adopt more innovative approaches and align its work programme with the Politburo’s resolutions, particularly Resolution No. 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.
He urged the Union to strengthen its consultancy work to help State agencies assess the feasibility and impacts of major development plans, ensuring objectivity, transparency, and public consensus.
The Union was also encouraged to expand activities supporting enterprises and local communities—especially in scientific research, innovation, knowledge dissemination, and technology transfer.
Relevant departments and agencies were assigned to review the Union’s recommendations and advise the Provincial People’s Committee on solutions for each issue.
