The complicated evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 has caused numerous difficulties in the implementation of local foreign affairs. In that context, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DoFA) of Quang Ngai province has been proactive, active, and has made many innovations in consulting work as well as management and administration activities in the direction of flexibility and adaptation, shifting many activities from face-to-face to online to well complete its assigned tasks and the Annual Plan.

The National Conference on Foreign Affairs was held in both in-person and virtual forms on 14 December, under the chair of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

On the morning of December 13, 2021, the 20^th National Foreign Affairs Conference with the theme "Continuing to innovate and improve the efficiency of foreign affairs and international integration of localities" was held directly at the bridgehead in Hanoi and connected online to localities. Recently, the Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee signed Decision No.1908/QD-UBND approving the reception of the project of building 02 classrooms in Son Lien Ethnic Minority Semi-Boarding Primary and Secondary School, Son Lien Commune, Son Tay District funded by the Embassy of Indian in Vietnam with the total budget of 1,512 billion VND, of which the non-project aid was 1,157 billion VND, the rest was the local counterpart fund.

According to Report No. 213/BC-UBND dated December 07, 2021 of the Provincial People’s Committee, the province's socioeconomic situation in November and the previous 11 months produced the following results: The industrial production index increased significantly compared to the previous month and the same period last year, and a number of non-oil products grew well. Total retail sales of goods increased, prices remained stable, and there was an abundance of consumer goods to meet people's shopping needs. Exports increased, and transportation activities are gradually improving. In comparison to the same period and estimate, budget revenue was quite good. Policies and social security regimes are effectively and timely implemented, and so on.

On the morning of October 29, 2021, Quang Ngai province and Champasak province, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) jointly held a conference to review the cooperation program for the period of 2016-2020 and signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two provinces for the period of 2021-2025.
