US-funded project to boost Vietnam’s renewable energy development launched

The Vietnam Low Emission Energy Program II (V-LEEP II), worth 36 million USD, funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), was launched at a ceremony held in Hanoi on 3 June.
The V-LEEP II aims to accelerate Viet Nam's transition to a clean, secure, and market-based energy sector by increasing the deployment of advanced energy systems, improving energy sector performance, and increasing competition in the energy sector.
Expected to build on the success of V-LEEP I implemented from 2015 to 2020, V-LEEP II will contribute to the design, financing, construction and operation of new clean energy resources including: 2,000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy and 1,000 MW of combined-cycle, gas-fired power plants to reduce 59 million tons of CO2.Tin liên quan
