Exports surge 37% in first half of 2026

QUẢNG NGÃI — Export turnover in Quảng Ngãi Province was estimated at US$2.03 billion in the first six months of 2026, up 37 per cent year-on-year and achieving 64 per cent of the annual target.

Most export products recorded strong growth compared to the same period last year. Fuel oil (FO) exports were estimated at US$135.6 million, nearly four times higher year-on-year, while steel exports reached US$677.3 million, up 80.5 per cent.

Other key export items posting significant increases included elastic cord products, processed foods, mechanical products, rubber, cassava starch, textiles and fabrics, wood chips, wooden products, coffee and processed seafood.

Footwear and leather bag exports were the only major category to decline, falling 3.6 per cent year-on-year to an estimated US$128.9 million.

The decrease was attributed to weak demand in major markets and intensifying competition from regional exporters, resulting in fewer orders compared to the first half of 2025.

Meanwhile, import turnover was estimated at US$2.71 billion, up 6 per cent from a year earlier and equivalent to 43 per cent of the annual target.
