QUẢNG NGÃI — Fisheries output in Quảng Ngãi Province was estimated at 158,571 tonnes in the first six months of 2026, down 0.4 per cent year-on-year and fulfilling 55.6 per cent of the annual target.
Capture fisheries accounted for 152,549 tonnes, a decline of 0.4 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, aquaculture output rose 0.4 per cent to 6,022 tonnes. Farmed shrimp production, however, fell 3.7 per cent year-on-year to 1,671 tonnes.
The province also continued to implement urgent measures to address the European Commission’s warning on illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
As part of these efforts, 99.49 per cent of fishing vessels measuring 15 metres or longer had installed vessel monitoring system (VMS) equipment, equivalent to 2,983 out of 2,998 vessels, helping strengthen fisheries management and regulatory compliance.
