QUẢNG NGÃI — Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Trần Phước Hiền attended the 1ˢᵗ meeting of the Steering Committee for Key Industry and Construction Projects, chaired by Standing Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc, on October 1.
The meeting was held to review the implementation of major projects in the construction and industry sectors, identify bottlenecks and strengthen coordination among ministries, agencies and localities.
The Steering Committee was established by merging four existing state steering committees overseeing important national projects in transport, railways, energy and nuclear power.
The Ministry of Construction serves as the standing agency for construction-related matters, while the Ministry of Industry and Trade serves as the standing agency for industry and trade.
According to the Ministry of Construction, 55 projects with 124 component projects are currently under the committee’s monitoring in the construction sector. These include 49 road projects, five aviation projects and one seaport project.
To date, 30 projects and component projects have been put into operation, while 33 are in the investment preparation stage and 61 are under construction. Of the projects under construction, 19 are behind schedule.
In the energy sector, key projects are at different stages, ranging from investment preparation and investor selection to construction. Of the 18 LNG power projects on the monitoring list, 16 have selected investors, including two that have started construction, while 14 are completing investment preparation procedures. Two projects, LNG Nghi Sơn and LNG Long Sơn, have yet to select investors.
At the meeting, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc stressed that the Steering Committee would focus on inter-sectoral and inter-provincial issues, bottlenecks and matters beyond the authority of individual ministries, sectors and localities.
He called for stronger coordination and clear assignments covering responsibilities, deadlines and expected results.
Projects must be implemented on schedule, with quality, safety and efficiency ensured, while preventing losses and waste.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested the ministries of Construction, Industry and Trade, and Finance to consolidate information on difficulties, obstacles, progress commitments and disbursement plans for the projects.
The information will serve as a basis for monitoring, inspection and evaluation of implementation.
