On August 15, Quảng Ngãi held a ceremony to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Dung Quất Economic Zone and Quảng Ngãi Industrial Parks Authority (August 16, 1996–2026). Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc attended the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc congratulated the Authority, Party Committee, authorities and people of Quảng Ngãi on their achievements over the past 30 years.

He emphasized that the establishment of Dung Quất Industrial Zone three decades ago was a strategic breakthrough, helping transform Dung Quất into a major coastal economic zone and an important growth driver of Quảng Ngãi.
Dung Quất Economic Zone has attracted more than 440 investment projects with total registered capital of nearly US$20 billion, including 63 FDI projects worth more than US$2.5 billion. Around 350 projects are currently operating, creating jobs for more than 81,000 workers.
The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister called on Quảng Ngãi to develop Dung Quất into a green, smart and modern economic zone, with three key pillars: a national-scale oil refining and energy center, a heavy industry and new materials center, and a logistics center.
He identified five key priorities: promoting the green and circular economy; accelerating science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; developing Dung Quất into a regional logistics hub; creating a modern and investor-friendly business environment; and ensuring harmonious development with people at the center.
Permanent Deputy PM Phạm Gia Túc also asked Quảng Ngãi to optimize high-speed regional transport connections, particularly with Chu Lai International Airport, and soon finalize special mechanisms and policies for developing the National Oil Refining and Energy Center in Dung Quất.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Đức Tâm affirmed that Quảng Ngãi will urgently implement the five key tasks, develop Dung Quất into a green, smart and modern economic zone, attract high-tech and clean industries, strengthen digital transformation and improve regional connectivity.

The province will also work closely with central ministries and agencies to finalize special policies for the National Oil Refining and Energy Center, while ensuring industrial development is linked with social progress, environmental protection and improved living conditions for local people.
On this occasion, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc presented the Second- and Third-Class Labor Medals to two individuals with outstanding contributions to the Authority. He also presented VNĐ2 billion to the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Quảng Ngãi Province and a commemorative gift to the Authority.

The province also awarded investment registration certificates to investors in Dung Quất Economic Zone and Quảng Ngãi Industrial Parks. In addition, support was provided to local education promotion funds and scholarships and bicycles were presented to outstanding disadvantaged students.
