Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Trần Phước Hiền chaired a meeting on September 28 with operators of quarries supplying common construction materials.
The meeting also reviewed the recovery of minerals during construction of the sand-breakwater and wave-reduction embankment project and channel dredging at Sa Huỳnh fishing port’s storm shelter anchorage.
Trần Phước Hiền affirmed that the province would continue supporting businesses and operators in mineral extraction to help ensure adequate material supplies for construction projects.
From now until the end of 2026, relevant departments, localities and agencies are to review and complete procedures for eligible quarries seeking adjustments to their permitted production capacity.
The move aims to proactively meet rising demand, maintain construction schedules and accelerate public investment disbursement.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the provincial mineral plan includes 750 mines for common construction materials. Among these are 176 construction-stone quarries, with estimated reserves of around 300 million cubic metres of stone.

Quảng Ngãi currently has 45 quarries with valid extraction licences, with a combined permitted reserve of 68.9 million cubic metres.
Approximately 17 million cubic metres have been extracted, while the total licensed annual capacity stands at 3.4 million cubic metres.
In 2026, extraction has reached 2.1 million cubic metres, leaving a remaining capacity of 1.3 million cubic metres for the year.
Most licensed quarries are operating in accordance with their permits. However, some have yet to begin or have suspended operations because of difficulties in completing procedures for land leases.
Regarding the Sa Huỳnh fishing port project, the Vice Chairman assigned the Provincial Transport Construction Investment Project Management Board to develop a suitable solution based on actual conditions.
The proposal must clearly analyse the advantages and limitations of each option and ensure that the project’s requirements are fully met.
The board was also asked to consult with relevant departments and agencies, reach agreement on the proposed approach and submit it to the competent authorities for consideration and decision in accordance with regulations.
