A delegation from the Việt Nam Women’s Union visited social care centres in Quảng Ngãi Province on October 10 and presented gifts to disadvantaged people receiving care there.

The delegation was led by Lê Thị Thủy, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front and President of the Việt Nam Women’s Union. Ngô Phương Ly, the spouse of Tô Lâm, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam and President of Việt Nam, also joined the visit.

Thủy said the Party, State and Việt Nam Fatherland Front, together with General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm and his spouse, always pay special attention to people’s living conditions and social welfare, particularly children and disadvantaged people.

She highlighted the efforts of local authorities, organisations and women’s unions in supporting and protecting women, children and vulnerable groups, stressing the importance of ensuring that no one is left behind.

She also praised the dedication of managers and staff at the two centres, saying their care, compassion and commitment had helped create a safe and welcoming home for residents.

Thủy called on local authorities, agencies, women’s unions, businesses and donors to continue working together and mobilising resources to improve care for residents.

Quảng Ngãi currently has two social care centres: the Kon Tum Social Work Centre and the Quảng Ngãi Social Work and Child Protection Centre.

Together, they provide care and accommodation for 311 people, including older people, people with disabilities and children in particularly difficult circumstances.

As part of the visit, Việt Nam National Petroleum Group donated VNĐ2 billion to the two centres.

Other donors presented gifts worth a total of VNĐ 200 million to help improve living and learning conditions.

The donations are expected to help the centres improve the quality of care and provide further support to vulnerable residents.

Following the gift presentation, the delegation toured the residential areas and dining facilities.

The visit also included a stop at the children’s creative and learning area.

She encouraged them to nurture their interests and continue working to complete their artwork.

The visit brought encouragement to residents and staff, reflecting the shared commitment of authorities, businesses and the community to supporting disadvantaged people and ensuring that no one is left behind.
