As part of the “500-Day Campaign” to search for, recover and identify martyrs’ remains, Quảng Ngãi’s authorities have intensified search efforts based on information provided by local residents and historical witnesses.
From September 7 to 16, search teams recovered the remains of nine fallen soldiers, and related artifacts in Hố Sâu and Đồng Răm areas of Đặng Thùy Trâm Commune.
On September 19 and 20, three more sets of remains were recovered near the headwaters of Nước No Stream in Ba Liên Village, Ba Động Commune, based on information from a historical witness.
The authorities have collected biological samples for DNA testing to support identification. As the identities of the 12 fallen soldiers, including their names, hometowns, military units and dates of death, have not yet been fully established, all 12 sets of remains were brought to Ba Động Martyrs’ Cemetery for reburial in accordance with regulations.
The recovery of each set of remains brings another fallen soldier home and reflects the nation’s enduring tradition of “remembering the source of our water” and honoring those who sacrificed their lives for the country.
