On the morning of February 9, during his working program in Quang Ngai, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the progress of the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road project and the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project, a part of the North-South expressway construction project in the East, phase 2021-2025.
Accompanying the delegation were Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, and Quang Ngai provincial leaders.
The Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road project has a total length of about 125 km, including eight sections, starting from Km 23+500 and the endpoint connecting with the coastal road of Binh Dinh province at Km 125+645.
Up to now, the investment has been made and 32.5 km of road has been put into operation. Another 25.2 km is under construction. The section of 31 km has not been constructed yet whereas 11.3 km of road is overlapped with National Highway 1.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Quang Ngai province to continue to allocate resources to speed up the progress as planned to soon complete the entire route, opening up new development space for the province's potential coastal area.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the efforts and gave his opinion on removing some difficulties related to the project according to the proposal of Quang Ngai province.
Regarding the progress of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway Project, an 88 km long route, currently, contractors are organizing 50 construction teams, and so far they have implemented nearly 7,300 billion VND, equivalent to 55per cent of the contract value.
On the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway, 3 tunnels through the mountain, namely tunnel 1, tunnel 2, and tunnel 3 with a length of 0.6 km, 0.7 km, and 3.2 km respectively, are under construction.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the drastic participation of the entire political system of Quang Ngai province in site clearance and ensuring material sources for project construction, as well as promptly resolving related issues arising during the implementation process.
The Prime Minister requested the province to continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for investors and contractors to complete the project according to the set plan.
The Prime Minister also requested contractors to continue to make efforts in construction. In addition, they need to strengthen cooperation and utilize subcontractors and local enterprises to speed up construction progress, with the goal of completing the project by December 31, 2025, at the latest.
