Quảng Ngãi, May 14 - Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyễn Việt Hùng conducted an on-site inspection of the Quảng Ngãi – Hoài Nhơn expressway project, focusing on the section running through Quảng Ngãi province.

Accompanying the Deputy Minister were Trần Phước Hiền, Vice Chairman of Quảng Ngãi Provincial People's Committee, and leaders from relevant provincial departments, sectors, and local authorities.

The delegation was briefed on the project’s progress and key implementation milestones.

The Quảng Ngãi – Hoài Nhơn expressway project is part of the North-South Expressway construction project, phase 2021-2025, with a total length of 88km, of which 60.3km runs through Quảng Ngãi province.

According to reports from the Project Management Unit 2 (under the Ministry of Construction) and the contractor consortium led by Đèo Cả Group, the project is currently in its final phase.

So far, all 50 designated construction points along the main expressway route are active, supported by over 1,400 pieces of machinery and equipment and approximately 3,450 engineers and workers on site.

The total completed workload has reached approximately VNĐ 8,450 billion, accounting for 63.3 per cent of the total contract value.

Significant progress has been made across key components of the project.

The expressway features three mountain tunnels. Tunnels 1 (0.6km) and 2 (0.7km) have finished construction works.

Tunnel 3, the longest at 3.2km, has had its right bore fully excavated, which was six months ahead of schedule.

The remaining left bore is expected to be completed by June 2025.

He emphasized the need for continued close collaboration and support from the province to facilitate the smooth execution of the project.

The Deputy Minister also urged the Project Management Unit and contractor consortium to intensify coordination with local authorities to resolve any remaining obstacles swiftly, ensuring uninterrupted construction progress.
