On December 25, Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm chaired a meeting with relevant departments, local authorities and stakeholders to review the implementation of the Project to support the development of a valuable medicinal herbs growing area in Trà Bồng.
The project, with a total investment of VNĐ 200 billion, is part of the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority Areas, aiming to boost the local economy and improve livelihoods.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Trà Bồng Medicinal Herbs Joint Stock Company, the project’s lead partner, has completed key preparatory steps, including signing cooperation agreements, establishing a project management unit, finalizing technology transfer contracts, and preparing bidding plans.
Progress has also been made in building a medicinal processing plant, developing a 30-hectare high-tech zone, and expanding raw material areas, with more than 220 hectares of cinnamon already planted by local residents.
However, the project is facing obstacles related to administrative procedures after the reorganization of provincial and communal authorities, affecting implementation progress and community engagement.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm acknowledged the efforts of all parties and instructed the Department of Agriculture and Environment to take the lead in reviewing legal procedures, clarifying management responsibilities, and proposing solutions to remove bottlenecks.
He also urged the investor to closely coordinate with local authorities to accelerate implementation and ensure the project proceeds in compliance with regulations, contributing to sustainable medicinal herb development and improved livelihoods in Trà Bồng.
