On December 16, the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee held a meeting with retired and former military officers in Kon Tum Ward to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Việt Nam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 – December 22, 2025) and the 36th anniversary of the All-People’s National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 – December 22, 2025).
Attending the event were Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Nguyễn Đức Tuy; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm; representatives of the Provincial Military Command; and retired and former military personnel.
In recent years, the provincial armed forces have played a core role in carrying out national defense and local military tasks, building the defensive zone, responding to natural disasters, and conducting search and rescue operations, thereby contributing to social stability and maintaining security and order.
The Provincial Military Command has streamlined its organizational structure, reducing 35 units, equivalent to 17.8 per cent of personnel.
In 2025, military recruitment met 100 per cent of assigned targets; training was conducted rigorously; and more than 5,800 patrols with over 17,000 officers and soldiers were carried out to ensure political security, social order, and combat readiness.
Speaking at the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Nguyễn Đức Tuy praised the significant contributions of the provincial armed forces to socio-economic development and national defense and security, and expressed gratitude to retired generals, former officers, and serving personnel.
He affirmed that the 81-year proud tradition of the Việt Nam People’s Army remains a source of pride and a reliable pillar for the Party, the State, and the People. He highlighted the active participation of hundreds of officers and soldiers in the “Quang Trung Campaign,” building permanent houses for residents in flood-and landslide-affected areas, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and solidarity of soldiers in peacetime.
He also expressed his hope that serving personnel and retired military officers would continue to support the locality, contribute their experience and expertise, help strengthen all-people national defense, safeguard the Party’s ideological foundation, and join efforts to build Quảng Ngãi Province toward fast and sustainable development.
