On December 26, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien met with leaders of departments and localities about the implementation of state management of minerals, the organization of auctions of mineral exploitation rights and the management of the prices of sand used as construction materials in the province.
Reportedly, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment(DoNRE) in Quang Ngai province has licensed a total of 95 mineral mines for common construction materials, with reserves of stone, sand, soil, clay, and gravel.
These mines supply materials for various construction projects in the region, including the Quang Ngai-Hoai Nhon expressway and the Hoang Sa-Doc Soi road projects.
The Department has successfully auctioned the exploitation rights for 5 sand mines, but some winners have requested a return of the auction results due to pricing differences.
DoNRE is now working to organize further auctions for mineral exploitation rights in other districts in the province.
In his concluding remarks, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien requested departments and localities to strengthen mineral management in the area.
He asked them to urgently review construction material sources and approved mineral plans to ensure adequate supply of construction materials for the immediate and long term uses, especially materials for key projects of the province and key national projects in the province.
He assigned DNRE to coordinate with the Provincial Tax Department to handle units that still owe resource tax. This must be completed by January 2025.
Regarding material mines serving projects in Dung Quat Economic Zone, the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Management Board was required to be proactive in providing construction materials associated with project progress.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested localities to urgently implement the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, and resolutely handle cases of non-compliance with legal regulations in mineral exploitation. There should be solutions to avoid formalities or tricks which occur at weighing stations, camera inspection and monitoring stations.
He assigned the Provincial Police to advise the Provincial People's Committee to handle violations and cases at risk of violations related to mineral exploitation activities.
