On December 30, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Hoang Giang, chaired a meeting to resolve problems related to the VNT19 Pulp and Paper Factory project.

The project, with a total investment of about 10 trillion VND, is invested by VNT19 Pulp & Paper Joint Stock Company, and covers an area of about 117 hectares in Binh Phuoc commune, Binh Son district.
The Factory was designed at a capacity of 350,000 tons of pulp and bleached paper per year.
Once accomplished, it will consume 1.4 million tons of wood chips per year, equal to about 55-60 per cent of the wood chips exported through Dung Quat Port.
It will also creat jobs for about 1,000 workers, and contribute to the annual budget of 800-1,000 billion VND.
The VNT19 Pulp and Paper Factory Project is one of three factories subject to environmental protection supervision in the province.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment's Monitoring Team will organize at least two inspections per year.
At the meeting, the investor committed to investing in upgrading the water treatment workshop according to the roadmap to meet the standards of column A.
The discharge of treated water of the Factory will not affect the beach area and fishing area of the people.
The company will also coordinate with local authorities and agencies in organizing people to supervise wastewater treatment and discharged treated water of the Plant.
They committed to ensuring social security, arranging suitable jobs, and supporting career change for people in the project area.

Regarding the project, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien has organized meetings and directly resolved many problems and difficulties of the VNT19 Pulp and Paper Factory project.
So far, the overall implementation volume of the project has reached about 93per cent.
Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang requested relevant departments, sectors, localities and investors to continue to fully implement the assigned contents related to the project.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment was assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to appraise and advise the PPC to consider leasing land for the area that meets the leasing conditions according to regulations.
Localities shall promote propaganda for people in the project area to clearly understand information and legal regulations relating to the project, thereby, creating consensus in the project implementation process, especially the construction of underground pipelines to discharge treated wastewater from the Factory.
The PPC’s Chairman also requested VNT19 Pulp and Paper Joint Stock Company to review the completion of legal procedures related to the project and focus resources to implement the project as the set plan.
