On December 27, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held an online conference to summarize the 2024 tasks and deploy the plan for 2025.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, leaders of relevant departments and units attended the conference at the Quang Ngai bridge.

According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2024, the agricultural sector maintained high growth momentum, completing and exceeding the main targets, with an estimated growth rate of 3.3%.

The economic structure of the sector and agricultural production structure continued to shift and adjust appropriately, gradually increasing the proportion of sub-sectors and products with competitive advantages and high values.

The market for agricultural, forestry and fishery products continued to expand in both production lines and products, thereby bringing the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to a record of 62.5 billion USD, up 18.7% compared to 2023.

The trade surplus continued to reach a new record of 17.9 billion USD, up 46.8%.

In 2024, over 1,500 new enterprises were established throughout the country, bringing the total number to about 17,300 enterprises, an increase of 7.5% compared to 2023.

In addition to the investment and development of small and medium enterprises, a number of large corporations and enterprises increased investment in agriculture.

Rural development and implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Development were focused on.

By the end of 2024, about 78.7% of communes nationwide met New Rural Standards.

The One Commune One Product (OCOP) program was implemented synchronously and widely by localities, becoming a priority solution in rural economic development.

Currently, the country has over 14,642 OCOP products with 3 stars or more, an increase of 3,586 products compared to 2023.

In 2025, the agricultural sector is determined to continue promoting restructuring the sector, improving productivity, quality of agricultural products and production and business efficiency.

It strives to exceed the highest growth target with a number of key targets.  GDP growth rate of the whole sector will be 3.1 - 3.4%. Total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products will be 63 - 65 billion USD, and the rate of communes meeting new rural standards will be over 80%.

325 district-level units will meet standards, completing the task of building new rural areas.
