The delegation worked with the Department of Education and Sports of Attapeu, Sekong and Champasak provinces and relevant agencies. During the working sessions, the two sides discussed the situation of training cooperation, sending students to study with their own finance and with scholarships from Quang Ngai, related policies for international students and training and developing high-quality human resources in the coming time.
According to statistics, the total number of international students studying in Quang Ngai province is 82. Among these, 41 Laotian students are studying Information Technology, Computer Science Pedagogy, Literature Pedagogy, and Vietnamese at Pham Van Dong University; 10 Laotian students are studying Business Administration, Corporate Finance and Banking Finance at the University of Finance and Accounting;. 12 students are studying Pharmacy and Information Technology at the Quang Ngai College; and 19 Laotian students are studying Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy and Medical Laboratory Technology at Dang Thuy Tram Medical College: In the period of 2017-2023, implementing Decision No. 2204/QD-UBND dated November 20, 2017 of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province on promulgating the Plan to support teaching Vietnamese to Vietnamese students living and studying in Attapeu, Sekong and Champasak provinces, Quang Ngai province trained 27 students from 3 provinces of Attapeu, Sekong and Champasak in Literature. After graduation, they returned to Laos to teach Vietnamese at high schools there.
In the period of 2021-2024, universities and colleges in Quang Ngai province trained 229 Laotian students (scholarships and self-funded).
Currently, the Department of Education and Training is drafting a Resolution regulating the policy of supporting training costs for Laotian students studying in Vietnam under the Cooperation Program with Quang Ngai province (according to Circular No. 75/2023/TT-BTC dated December 28, 2023 of the Minister of Finance guiding the management of training costs for Laotian and Cambodian students studying in Vietnam using aid funds from the Government of Vietnam).
