This is an important premise for the province to make a breakthrough in 2025, helping to improve the material and spiritual life of people, especially poor and near-poor households in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

In recent times, Son Ha district has mobilized capital from central programs and projects as well as other sources of capital to construct houses for poor households and build centralized clean water works.
According to the People's Committee of Son Ha district, the district has synchronously and effectively implemented programs, projects, and investment policies to support ethnic minority areas.
The district's annual poverty rate has decreased by 4 - 4.5%.
In the coming time, the district will continue to focus on leading and directing the entire political system to accelerate the implementation of projects and sub-projects, striving to improve people's lives and reduce the poverty rate to the lowest level.
As one of the two poor districts of Quang Ngai province, Son Tay district fully benefits from three national target programs (new rural construction, socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, and sustainable poverty reduction). The district has therefore focused on supporting production for people, creating conditions for people to access policies, resources, markets, and increase income.
The district has been forming key crop growing areas such as areca trees, and new crop growing areas such as guava, banana, and grapefruit, to meet the requirements of agricultural development in the new situation.
In 2024, Son Tay district reduced 681 poor households (11.65%), with the poverty rate of 22.4%.
According to Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien, in recent years, the province has effectively utilized resources from investment programs and policies for ethnic minority and mountainous areas, prioritized and focused on building and developing cooperation and linkage models in production and consumption of agricultural and forestry products, and created stable output for agricultural products, contributing to increasing income and improving people's lives.
In 2024, the poverty rate in mountainous areas decreased by more than 7%, exceeding 2.5% of the target assigned by the province.
100% of schools, classrooms and medical stations have been solidly built.
Traditional culture of ethnic minority areas has been preserved and developed.

Quang Ngai province set a target that by 2025, the poverty rate in ethnic minority and mountainous areas will decrease to 6.19%. Additionally, one more mountainous district will escape poverty, and the number of extremely disadvantaged communes and villages will be reduced by 50%.
By 2030, there will basically be no more extremely disadvantaged communes and villages in the province.
“In the coming time, in addition to synchronously implementing programs, projects, and supporting policies from the Central Government, Quang Ngai province will also strengthen propaganda and raise awareness of self-reliance in developing household economies to escape poverty quickly, effectively, and sustainably,” emphasized Vo Phien.
