On April 21, Deputy Prime Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn, Head of the National Steering Committee 389, chaired a nationwide virtual conference to review the Q1 performance and discuss upcoming tasks in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods.
In Q1, illegal trading and transportation of banned goods, smuggling, and trade fraud remained under control without major hotspots.
However, certain violations such as the trafficking of drugs, firecrackers, foreign cigarettes, fake and substandard products—including fuel, alcohol, sugar, cosmetics, supplements, and clothing—saw increased activity, particularly during the Lunar New Year period.
In Quảng Ngãi, illicit trading and transportation of goods like firecrackers, foreign cigarettes, and fake branded items showed signs of rising.
Local authorities actively enhanced coordination, market surveillance, and public communication, leading to timely detection and prevention of violations.
Deputy PM Sơn commended the efforts of ministries and localities and urged continued strict implementation of government directives.
He emphasized the need to strengthen inspection, promote digital transformation, and encourage public reporting of violations.
Outstanding contributions by individuals and groups should be recognized and rewarded.
