A delegation from the People’s Council of Quảng Ngãi Province pays a courtesy visit to the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Office of International Relations

SEOUL — A delegation from the People’s Council of Quảng Ngãi Province, led by Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Nguyễn Đức Tuy, paid a courtesy visit to the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Office of International Relations on August 3 to strengthen cooperation and learn from the South Korean capital’s development experience.

The delegation was welcomed by Koo Hongseok, Ambassador for International Relations of the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

During the meeting, Tuy said the visit offered an opportunity for Quảng Ngãi to study Seoul’s successful approaches to attracting investment, promoting high-tech industries, fostering innovation and artificial intelligence (AI), developing tourism, and building a modern smart city.

He also expressed interest in Seoul’s policies on expanding green spaces, protecting the environment and responding to climate change.

Introducing Quảng Ngãi’s recent socio-economic performance, Tuy said the province maintained strong growth in the first half of 2026, with gross regional domestic product (GRDP) expanding by 8.55 per cent. Industry remained the main driver of growth, led by the Dung Quất Economic Zone.

During the period, the province approved investment policies for 11 projects worth approximately VNĐ3.66 trillion, while six real estate projects with total registered capital of nearly VNĐ37 trillion also received investment approval.

Quảng Ngãi established 947 new businesses, up 39.3 per cent year-on-year, with newly registered capital increasing by nearly 59 per cent.

The province also recorded strong performance in trade and investment. Export turnover reached about US$2.03 billion, an increase of 37 per cent compared to the same period last year, while the local investment and business environment continued to improve.

Tuy said Quảng Ngãi is accelerating infrastructure development, digital transformation and investment attraction, with priority given to high-tech industries, energy, processing and manufacturing, logistics and other environmentally friendly, high value-added sectors.

He thanked the Seoul Metropolitan Government for its warm hospitality and expressed confidence that the visit would deepen mutual understanding and create new opportunities for practical cooperation between Quảng Ngãi Province and Seoul.

Following the courtesy meeting, the delegation held working sessions with Seoul officials from the Investment and Finance Office, Digital Policy Office and Urban Space Strategy Office.

The discussions focused on investment promotion, business support policies, digital transformation, AI development, urban planning and tourism.

Delegates also exchanged views on Seoul’s experience in wastewater and solid waste treatment technologies, as well as implementation models for sustainable urban management.
