QUẢNG NGÃI — Quảng Ngãi held a large-scale exercise on October 1 to practise responding to radiation and nuclear incidents, strengthening the province’s preparedness and coordination capacity in the event of a radiological emergency.
The exercise brought together representatives of provincial departments and agencies, local authorities, specialised forces and relevant units.
The programme focused on practising response procedures, inter-agency coordination, incident assessment, public safety measures and the deployment of specialised equipment and personnel.
Participants conducted drills based on simulated radiation-related emergency scenarios.
Response forces were required to quickly assess the situation, establish appropriate safety measures and coordinate the handling of the incident in accordance with established procedures.

The scenario in the drill is an accident involving a vehicle transporting radioactive sources.
The exercise also provided an opportunity to review the province’s preparedness plans, clarify responsibilities among participating agencies and improve coordination between specialised forces and local authorities.
Through the exercise, Quảng Ngãi aims to strengthen its ability to respond promptly and effectively to radiation and nuclear incidents, minimise potential impacts on people and the environment, and ensure public safety.
Relevant agencies were also asked to continue reviewing response plans, maintaining equipment and strengthening training and technical capacity for radiation and nuclear incident response.
