On the morning of February 7, 2025, Pham Van Dong University held a ceremony to welcome and receive 16 Laotian students from Champasak, Attapeu and Sekong provinces, Lao PDR to study in the province for the academic year 2024-2025.
On Quang Ngai province side, attending the meeting were representatives of the Department of Education and Training, the Provincial People's Committee Office, the Provincial Police and relevant agencies. On the side of the delegation from the Southern Lao provinces, there were the Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Champasak, Deputy Directors of the Department of Education and Sports of Sekong and Attapeu provinces.
Accordingly, 16 new international students include 10 students of Champasak, 3 students of Sekong and 3 students of Attapeu.
As planned, these Laotian students will start learning Vietnamese language early February 2025 (for one year) before entering main majors.
Human resource training for the Southern provinces of Laos is one of the main contents under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Quang Ngai province and Champasak province in the period of 2021 - 2025 and Decision No. 22/QD-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee approving the cooperation plan between Quang Ngai province and Champasak province and some localities of Lao PDR in the 2021-2025 period.
Reportedly, in the period of 2021 - 2024, Quang Ngai province supported scholarships for 55 Laotian students to study at universities and colleges in the province.
