Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà has recently chaired a nationwide online conference to review traffic safety performance.

In Quảng Ngãi, the session was chaired by Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyễn Hoàng Giang.

According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, the implementation of Government Decree No. 168/2024/NĐ-CP and strict enforcement by the Ministry of Public Security have helped restore traffic order and promote law-abiding behavior.

Common violations such as drunk driving, speeding, and running red lights have significantly decreased.

In Q1 2025, Vietnam recorded over 4,700 traffic accidents, resulting in more than 2,600 deaths and 3,180 injuries — a notable drop from the same period in 2024.

Particularly, 34 provinces and cities reported a reduction in traffic fatalities. Among them, 11 provinces, including Quảng Ngãi, had a decrease of over 30 per cent.

Traffic police handled over 843,000 violations across road, rail, and inland waterways, issuing fines totaling over VND 1.76 trillion and impounding more than 236,000 vehicles.

However, traffic congestion remains a concern, with 17 major incidents nationwide — up 41 per cent year-on-year — mainly due to vehicle surges, accidents, and technical issues.

Localities proposed stronger emission control measures, improved traffic blackspot management, and enhanced surveillance systems through upgraded equipment and expanded camera coverage.

Deputy PM Hà praised the positive outcomes and urged continued coordination among agencies.

He emphasized long-term efforts to improve infrastructure, enforce laws, integrate technology into transport management, and boost traffic safety education — especially in schools — to build a culture of safe and responsible commuting.
