On May 17, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Võ Phiên, Chairman of the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations Lê Quang Thích, and Director of the Department of Science and Technology Trần Thanh Trường met with more than 200 science and technology intellectuals on the occasion of the Việt Nam Science and Technology Day, May 18.
At the event, Chairman of the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations Lê Quang Thích recalled President Hồ Chíi Minh's advice on May 18, 1963 at the First Congress of the Việt Nam Association for Dissemination of Science and Technology, the predecessor of the Union of Science and Technology Associations.

Imbued with Uncle Hồ's teachings towards the cause of science and technology, since 2014, May 18th has become Việt Nam Science and Technology Day - a day of special historical significance not only for the science and technology sector, but also for all those who are passionate about science, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
This is an opportunity to raise awareness of the role of science and technology in the country's development, thereby encouraging a passion for scientific research and innovation among all classes of people.
In recent years, Quảng Ngãi intellectuals have played a pivotal role in creating valuable products in all fields of politics, economics, culture, society, national defense, security, foreign affairs, and Party building.
They have actively participated in giving opinions, proposing major issues of policy and mechanism, and played an important role in strengthening the alliance between the working class, the peasantry, and intellectuals in building the great national unity bloc in the province, making important contributions to the province’s industrialization and modernization.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Võ Phiên emphasized that Việt Nam Science and Technology Day is not only an occasion to honor those working in science and technology but also an opportunity to look back and spread research achievements, arouse the passion for creativity in the community, especially the young generation.

Phiên also said that Quảng Ngãi province has identified the development of science, technology, and innovation as one of the strategic breakthroughs to improve productivity, growth quality, and competitiveness of the economy.
The PPC’s Vice Chairman called on the intellectuals and scientists to continue to accompany and contribute to the development of science and technology in the province.
Science and technology tasks using the state budget need to focus on key areas, in line with the province’s economic development orientation, ensuring high applicability and replicability.
The PPC’s Vice Chairman believes that, with intelligence, enthusiasm, and responsibility, the province’s intellectuals and scientists will continue to promote tradition, accompany the development of Quảng Ngãi province, and make science and technology become a key driving force towards the sustainable development of the province.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to six individuals who are outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals inside and outside the province.
