On April 16, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the People's Committee of Nghia Hanh district, organized a conference to deploy the tasks of developing tourism and agricultural and rural community tourism in the construction of new rural areas by 2025. Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan attended the conference.
In 2024, the tourism sector in Quang Ngai experienced significant growth, drawing in over 1.4 million visitors, including 18,000 from abroad; the total revenue exceeded 1,434 billion VND.
Locations like Ly Son Island, Sa Huynh tourist area, My Khe beach, and Chau Tan beach are becoming increasingly popular due to their natural beauty and distinct cultural heritage.
In recent years, the province has greatly exploited tourism potential, especially community tourism associated with agriculture and rural areas. Destinations such as Suoi Chi Provincial Tourism Area, and Go Co Community Tourism Village have gradually affirmed their attractiveness, enriching the province's tourism picture.
However, tourism activities mainly rely on island tourism and natural landscapes. Community tourism, eco-tourism, and cultural-historical tourism have not been fully exploited.
Businesses and management agencies have not closely coordinated to build sustainable tourism products.
At the Conference, delegates, businesses, and experts in the tourism sector gave presentations to share experiences and propose solutions for tourism development in the province. These included solutions for building and developing tourism types in Quang Ngai, core elements in building products for the rural tourism value chain in the province.
They also shared experiences and orientations for organizing tourism events, and experiences in building typical rural community tourism destinations.
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan speaks at the conference
Speaking at the Conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Tran Hoang Tuan, requested that departments, sectors, and localities continue to carry out propaganda activities and disseminate tourism laws with diverse methods and rich content. Additionally, they need to raise awareness of the role, position, and importance of tourism development, tourism industry and profession.
Tuan also urged to raise awareness and responsibility for protecting the environment, natural landscapes, and tourism resources.
Besides, it is necessary to focus on developing and spreading tourism culture to the local people, promoting the intra-provincial tourism movement.
The PPC’s Vice Chairman also asked related agencies and units to gradually develop tourism value chain models, link and promote the development and consumption of OCOP products, and preserve and develop rural craft villages through the development of rural agricultural tourism.
The PPC’s Vice Chairman requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to advise on developing tourism development policies in the current situation. At the same time, they should actively support and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles for businesses during the operation of tourism services.
At the Conference, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Agriculture and Environment signed a Coordination Program for developing agricultural and rural tourism for the period 2024 - 2030 in the province.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism handed over two agricultural and rural community tourism models to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City and the People's Committee of Binh Son District, including the community tourism model of the coconut forest in Tinh Khe commune and the community tourism promotion model, associated with the Sa Huynh Cultural site in Binh Chau commune.
On the same day, the Provincial People's Committee announced the Decision to recognize the Suoi Chi Eco-tourism Area, in Hanh Tin Dong Commune, Nghia Hanh District, as a provincial-level tourist area.
