QUẢNG NGÃI — Leaders of Quảng Ngãi Province on January 12 reviewed socio-economic performance in 2025 and outlined priorities for 2026, with a strong focus on removing development bottlenecks and maintaining high growth.

The conference was chaired by Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Hoàng Giang and vice chairpersons, with attendance from senior provincial Party leaders, National Assembly representatives, departments, agencies, and leaders of 96 communes, wards and special administrative units.

Giang said 2025 marked the final year of the 2021–2025 development plan and carried special significance as a year for acceleration and completion.

Despite external headwinds and severe natural disasters late in the year, the province met all 24 key targets set by the Provincial People’s Council, with seven exceeding plan.

Quảng Ngãi posted GRDP growth of 10.02 per cent in 2025, surpassing the Government’s target and ranking first among six provinces in the South Central Coast and Central Highlands.

The province was also among six localities nationwide achieving double-digit growth.

The local economy was valued at nearly VNĐ192 trillion, while State budget revenue reached VNĐ36.03 trillion.

Progress was also recorded in social and cultural sectors, including social welfare, healthcare, education, employment and poverty reduction. Defence and security were maintained, ensuring political stability and social order.

However, provincial leaders acknowledged ongoing challenges, such as limited depth in the growth model, weak application of science and innovation, inadequate transport connectivity—particularly between coastal and mountainous areas—constraints in public governance and investment attraction, and disparities in digital infrastructure between urban and rural regions.

For 2026, Quảng Ngãi has been assigned a GRDP growth target of 10 per cent.

Giang said sustaining this pace would be challenging and called for stronger coordination across sectors, clearer accountability of leaders, and practical solutions to address identified bottlenecks.

The province aims to secure double-digit average growth in the 2026–2030 period.

Addressing the conference, Hồ Văn Niên, a member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, praised the strong efforts and determination shown by authorities at all levels, the business community and residents across Quảng Ngãi in recent years.

He stressed that 2026 marks the beginning of a new development phase, implementing the 14ᵗʰ National Party Congress Resolution and the 2026–2030 socio-economic development plan, which targets high growth amid both opportunities and challenges.

In this context, he said, the province must address immediate issues while persistently advancing strategic, long-term reforms.

Niên called for the continued, effective implementation of major resolutions of the Party Central Committee, the Government and the Prime Minister, as well as those of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People’s Council.

He urged authorities to swiftly translate targets into concrete actions, particularly those set out in the Provincial Party Congress and the 14ᵗʰ National Party Congress.

Key priorities include improving the investment and business environment, resolving bottlenecks in land clearance, compensation and resettlement, strengthening decentralisation linked to accountability of leaders, and mobilising resources more efficiently for development.

The Party chief also emphasised accelerating key, connectivity-driven projects, strategic transport infrastructure and coastal development schemes, and coordinating efforts to seek Prime Ministerial approval for the proposed national petrochemical refining and energy centre at Dung Quất Economic Zone.

He urged stronger budget revenue collection and full disbursement of public investment capital in 2026.

In parallel, Niên highlighted the need for balanced cultural and social development, sustainable tourism linked to cultural preservation, and improved livelihoods.

He also identified 2026 as a pivotal year for upgrading grassroots-level officials, calling for a professional, dynamic and accountable civil service capable of meeting new development demands.
