On February 7, Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Hien launched a Tree Planting Festival in Mo Duc district to honor Uncle Ho.
The district has been actively planting and protecting forests, contributing to the government's goal of planting 1 billion trees.
In 2024, over 300 hectares of forest and 100,000 scattered trees were planted.
The district has focused on planting large timber forests sustainably, with 900 hectares FSC certified.
This has led to a 34 per cent forest cover rate, helping with natural disaster prevention, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and responding to climate change.
After the ceremony, Hien and other leaders planted 60 banyan trees and thousands of casuarina trees in Duc Minh commune's coastal protection forest area.
