On February 6, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the National Committee on Digital Transformation, chaired the 10th meeting to review the National Committee on Digital Transformation and Project 06's activities in 2024 and key directions and tasks in 2025.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan, members of the Steering Committee for Digital Transformation and the Working Group implementing Project 06 of the province attended the Quang Ngai Bridge.
Vietnam's e-government development ranking has significantly improved, reaching 71st out of 193 countries in the United Nations rankings, up 15 places from 2022. The country is now in the Very High-level group for the e-Government Development Index.
The digital economy is estimated to make up 18.3 per cent of GDP in 2024, with a growth rate exceeding 20 per cent annually, the fastest in Southeast Asia.
Retail e-commerce revenue has reached 25 billion USD, with Vietnam being in the Top 10 countries for e-commerce growth.
The annual growth rate of cashless payments has increased by over 50 per cent, leading Southeast Asia.
More Vietnamese people are accessing Made in Vietnam digital platforms compared to foreign ones, with a 25.25 per cent access rate.
Vietnam is now one of the countries with a high number of domestic digital platform users.
In 2024, 12.5 million digital signature certificates were issued to adults in Vietnam, a 58.61 per cent increase from the previous year, bringing the rate of adults with digital signatures to 25 per cent.
The number of activated VNeID accounts exceeded 55.25 million, surpassing the target of 40 million user accounts in Project 06/CP.
Vietnam also improved its information security ranking, moving up 8 spots to 17th out of 194 countries in group I – Model, and ranking 4th out of 38 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
The implementation of Project 06 saw all localities and most ministries and sectors successfully connecting electronic data management systems, with 100 per cent adoption of VneID for administrative procedures.
The digitization of records and results of administrative procedures reached over 60 per cent at both the local and ministerial levels, with 33 localities completing the digitization of land data.
The Ministry of Public Security has issued over 87.7 million chip-embedded citizen identification cards, collected nearly 81 million electronic identification records, activated nearly 60 million citizen accounts, and provided 35 utilities on VneID.
In 2025, the Politburo has highlighted the importance of developing science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation as the main driving force for rapid development.
The focus is on comprehensive digital transformation to boost the digital economy and drive economic growth. Ministries, sectors, and localities are committed to achieving targets set out in government resolutions.
Project 06 will pave the way for a National Data Center to harness the potential of data as a valuable resource for production.
