Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, has recently chaired a meeting to review the province’s efforts in combating smuggling, trade fraud, and intellectual property violations.

At the meeting, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade (DOIT), Võ Văn Rân, reported that although the situation remains under control, smuggling and counterfeit activities—especially in key localities and online platforms—continue to evolve with more sophisticated methods, posing significant challenges for enforcement agencies.

From January 1 to May 30, 2025, provincial authorities detected over 310 violations involving nearly 350 individuals.

These included 52 cases of banned or smuggled goods, 251 cases of trade fraud, and 9 cases involving counterfeit goods or IP violations.

Authorities initiated 17 criminal cases and imposed administrative penalties on over 280 cases, collecting over VNĐ 90.5 billion for the state budget.

To intensify the crackdown, the province issued Plan No. 118/KH-UBND and established a special task force led by the Provincial Chairman under Decision No. 795/QD-UBND.

Vice Chairman Hiền emphasized the need for focused, results-based actions aligned with Plan 118.

He called for stronger enforcement, targeted communications—especially on e-commerce and social media—and enhanced public awareness.

He also urged the revival of the “Vietnamese People Prioritize Vietnamese Goods” campaign.

DOIT was assigned to operate a hotline for public reports, guide local implementation, and regularly report outcomes to the provincial leadership.
