Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính on May 31 chaired a national dialogue with businesses and business associations to discuss the implementation of Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW (dated May 4, 2025) by the Politburo on promoting private economic development.
At the Quảng Ngãi provincial site, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, Vice Chairman Võ Phiên, and representatives from departments, cooperatives, household businesses, and prominent enterprises attended the dialogue.
The Ministry of Finance presented a report highlighting the growth and potential of the private sector.
After 40 years of reform, the private economy has made significant strides, currently contributing about 50 per cent of the national GDP and creating over 43.5 million jobs from 2017 to 2023.
Resolution 68-NQ/TW outlines five breakthrough directives, aiming to make the private sector a key driver of the national economy.
The goals include reaching 2 million active businesses, at least 20 major firms in global value chains, and 55–58 per cent GDP contribution.
The resolution also introduces eight strategic task groups aligned with Vietnam’s three core breakthroughs: institutions, infrastructure, and human resources.
During the dialogue, business representatives raised concerns about legal frameworks, administrative procedures, market access, and financing.
Prime Minister Chính emphasized that the resolution marks a strategic turning point for private sector growth, calling for synchronized efforts from all levels of government and the business community.
He urged ministries and local authorities to improve institutional frameworks, ensure political and social stability, and enhance dialogue with businesses.
Enterprises were encouraged to innovate, comply with the law, contribute to social welfare, and engage in national development efforts.
