Deputy Minister Nguyễn Việt Hùng meets with Quảng Ngãi provincial leaders about expressway progress
Quảng Ngãi, May 15 - a delegation from the Ministry of Construction, led by Deputy Minister Nguyễn Việt Hùng, held a working session with the People's Committee of Quảng Ngãi Province to review the progress of the Quảng Ngãi – Hoài Nhơn section of the North-South Expressway project, following an on-site inspection on May 14.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, along with representatives from relevant departments, agencies, and the investor—Project Management Unit 2 under the Ministry of Transport—participated in the meeting, together with contractors and other related units.
At the meeting, the investor and contractors reported several challenges arising during project implementation and proposed solutions to ensure timely support, aiming to keep the project on schedule and maintain construction efficiency.
The Quảng Ngãi – Hoài Nhơn section, part of the North-South Expressway (Eastern section) for the 2021–2025 period, spans 88 km, with 60.3 km running through Quảng Ngãi Province.
Currently, around 63.3 per cent of the project volume has been completed.
Vice Chairman Trần Phước Hiền expressed appreciation for the close attention and guidance from the Ministry of Construction.
He affirmed that, following the field inspection, the province has clearly identified key issues to address remaining obstacles and ensure progress aligns with the Government’s directives.
With the project schedule already shortened, the province has prioritized land clearance and material supply, and will continue to coordinate closely with the investor and contractors to ensure the project meets both progress and quality targets.

Deputy Minister Nguyễn Việt Hùng emphasized that the Quảng Ngãi – Hoài Nhơn section is among the most critical segments of the entire North-South Expressway.
He called for stronger collaboration between local authorities, the investor, contractors, and community support to resolve remaining issues and ensure smooth project execution, contributing to national and local socio-economic development.
