PPC’s regular meeting of May 2025

On June 4, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, chaired a regular meeting to evaluate the results of socio-economic development tasks in May and the first five months of 2025.

Attending the meeting were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trần Phước Hiền, members of the Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of provincial departments and sectors.

Reportedly, in May and the first five months of 2025, the province's socio-economic situation achieved positive results. Most key industrial products have grown compared to the same period last year.

The Industrial Production Index in May is estimated to have increased by 13.05 per cent year-on-year. For the first five months of 2025, the index rose by 22.54 per cent compared to the same period in 2024.

Several key products posted significant output growth, including: petrochemical products up 42.17 per cent, fiber up 17 per cent, leather footwear up 45 per cent, wood chips for paper production up 17.85 per cent, electricity generation up 43.06 per cent, and commercial electricity up 17.20 per cent.

Trade and service activities continued to recover strongly, with total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in May increasing by 15.85 per cent year-on-year. For the first five months of 2025, the cumulative increase reached 12.49 per cent compared to the same period in 2024.

Exploited aquatic product output also rose year-on-year.

State budget revenue reached 41 per cent of the annual estimate.

As of May 31, 2025, public investment disbursement had reached 26.4 per cent of the planned capital.

The province's social and cultural sectors have maintained steady progress. Efforts to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated housing have been carried out decisively, reaching 78.79 per cent of the plan.

The tourism sector is showing positive signs of recovery, with the number of tourist arrivals in May increasing by 23 per cent year-on-year. Tourism revenue rose by 34 per cent, achieving 23 per cent of the annual target.

The restructuring and reorganization of the two-tier local government model have been carried out on schedule, in line with the central government’s direction.

Social welfare and security activities have been effectively implemented by all sectors and levels.

In addition to the achieved results, the province’s socio-economic situation still faces limitations and difficulties. Compensation and site clearance work is still slow. The construction progress of some works and projects has not met the set plan.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyễn Hoàng Giang requested departments, sectors, and localities to continue to follow the directions of the Government, the Prime Minister, the Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Council and the Provincial People's Committee.

Especially, they need to focus on implementing key tasks and solutions to promote economic growth, managing finance and budget, and striving to fulfill the targets of the provincial Socio-Economic Development Plan in 2025.

Giang requested all the sectors and unit to review tasks assigned by the PPC and the PPC’s Chairman in 2025  in order to implement them on schedule with high quality.

He also urged related agencies to fully prepare the documents for the 36th thematic session and the regular session in mid-2025 of the 13th Provincial People's Council.

Giang urged to focus on inspecting and supervising the implementation of the Program to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses in the province, and speeding up the construction of social housing apartments for low-income people and industrial park workers.

In the tourism sector, it is necessary to improve the quality of tourism products, prepare facilities and human resources for the upcoming summer tourist season.

The PPC’s Chairman requested departments and sectors to review all content related to the merger work of the two provinces of Quảng Ngãi and Kon Tum according to the direction of the Central Government.
