QUẢNG NGÃI — Hồ Văn Niên, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, chaired a working session with the Standing Board of the Tây Trà Commune Party Committee on December 5ᵗʰ.

Tây Trà Commune covers more than 170 sq.km, with ethnic minorities accounting for nearly 96 per cent of its population.

In 2025, the commune’s total production value is estimated at VNĐ170 billion, including nearly VNĐ90 billion from agriculture, VNĐ71 billion from industry–construction, and VNĐ8.6 billion from trade–services. National target programmes have been effectively implemented.

The commune has also made strong progress under the programme to eradicate temporary and dilapidated housing, completing 482 of 484 planned new homes in 2025.

Social welfare policies have been carried out synchronously and effectively, contributing to improved infrastructure and sustainable poverty reduction.

Cultural and social affairs have seen positive changes, while education, healthcare and social security have received due attention. National defence and security remain stable, and administrative reform has improved.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary Niên expressed sympathy for the difficulties and losses Tây Trà has faced due to recent floods, which caused serious damage to transport, irrigation and essential infrastructure.

To ensure effective fulfilment of upcoming political tasks, he asked the commune to coordinate with the Provincial Organisation Commission and the Department of Home Affairs to strengthen its personnel, prioritising capable staff—especially those with expertise in agriculture and forestry—to help local residents improve livelihoods and reduce poverty sustainably.

He also urged greater focus on healthcare, primary medical services, education and training.

Niên instructed the commune to promptly repair landslide-affected roads to ensure safe travel and to work with provincial departments to assess areas at risk of landslides, thereby developing plans to relocate households from hazardous zones.

He emphasised continued efforts to encourage farmers to shift to more efficient crops and livestock, helping increase incomes.

He also requested relevant sectors to classify the degraded Trà Ôi route and the road to Đông Village as urgent projects for investment, ensuring that 180 households are no longer isolated during heavy rains.

The provincial Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee was asked to review and allocate funding to support households affected by natural disasters.

Support for repairing storm damage must be completed before December 31ˢᵗ, 2025, while all new houses must be finished before January 31ˢᵗ, 2026, ensuring residents can welcome Tết in safe and stable homes.
