QUẢNG NGÃI — Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Công Hoàng on December 12 inspected construction progress of the Quảng Ngãi–Hoài Nhơn component project, part of the eastern North–South Expressway project for the 2021–2025 period.

He was accompanied by leaders of relevant departments, agencies and local authorities, as well as representatives of the project owner and construction contractors.

The Quảng Ngãi–Hoài Nhơn section has a total length of 88km, of which 60.3km runs through Quảng Ngãi Province.

At the site, representatives of the Quảng Ngãi–Hoài Nhơn Project Management Board reported on construction progress and preparations for the project’s inauguration scheduled for December 19, 2025.

The project is currently at a level of readiness to allow technical traffic opening on December 19, in line with directions from the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction.

Contractors, consultants and supervision units are working intensively to complete final items along the entire route, including the installation of traffic signs, site clean-up and guardrails, with completion targeted before December 18, 2025. Key components such as traffic safety systems, service roads, residential access roads and overpasses are also being prioritised.

Following the inspection, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Công Hoàng praised the strong sense of responsibility and coordination shown by the project owner, contractors and local authorities, particularly during the final completion stage.

He noted that the main carriageway has been largely completed, while road markings, traffic signs and site cleaning are being accelerated to ensure conditions for full-route opening on December 19, 2025.

He requested the project owner and contractors to continue mobilising maximum manpower and equipment, making use of favourable weather to speed up remaining works, especially overpasses, branch roads and service roads, and to ensure synchronous completion and smooth connections between the expressway and National Highway 1 when put into operation.

Regarding residential roads temporarily used for construction, the Vice Chairman required the project owner and contractors to promptly repair and restore them in line with commitments, ensuring quality and meeting local travel needs ahead of the Lunar New Year of 2026. For several branch road locations, he asked local authorities to coordinate closely in resolving site clearance issues, while contractors were urged to accelerate construction so that these sections are completed in sync with the main route and the project is brought into use in accordance with regulations.
