The Central Party Secretariat, on Wednesday, held an online conference to disseminate Conclusion No. 132-KL/TW dated March 18, 2025 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Directive 36-CT/TW of 2019 of the Politburo on strengthening and improving the effectiveness of drug prevention, control, and combat.

Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat, Le Thanh Long, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control, attended the conference.
Attending the conference at the Quang Ngai bridge point were member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Bui Thi Quynh Van, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Dang Ngoc Huy, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Dinh Thi Hong Minh, leaders of the Provincial Police and related departments and sectors.

At the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, who is also the chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control, clarified the core content of Conclusion No. 132 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Directive No. 36.
He emphasised that Conclusion 132 clearly defines the responsibilities of heads of Party committees, authorities, agencies, and organisations, as well as the exemplary role of officials and Party members in drug prevention and control.
Concluding the conference, Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat, acknowledged that over the past five years, Party committees and authorities from the central to local levels have paid attention to leading and directing the effective implementation of drug prevention and control.
The system and institutions for drug control and prevention have been gradually improved.
The police force has coordinated with specialized forces to thoroughly and effectively handle many complicated cases, with remarkable achievements.
However, drug control and prevention work is still limited, drug crimes are complicated, Tu stressed.
The Standing Member of the Secretariat requested that, in the coming time, each Party Committee, government, unit, and locality must seriously review and have timely solutions and measures to control and prevent drugs.
It is necessary to continue to strengthen the leadership and direction of Party committees at all levels, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, and encourage people’s participation in the fight against drugs.
He also said that drug prevention must be a central, urgent, regular, long-term task, requiring perseverance and persistence.
The entire political system must take drastic action and comprehensively implement solutions to push drugs out of social life to achieve the goal of having 50 per cent of commune-level administrative units nationwide be drug-free by 2030.
