Quang Ngai, April 9, 2025 – Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, chaired the Provincial People’s Committee’s regular meeting this morning to assess the socio-economic performance in March and the first quarter of 2025, and to outline key tasks for the second quarter.
Also in attendance were Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, Nguyễn Cao Phúc, Vice Chairmen of the People’s Committee, Võ Phiên and Trần Phước Hiền, Head of the provincial National Assembly Delegation, Huỳnh Thị Ánh Sương, along with leaders of departments, sectors, and localities across the province.
Quang Ngai province records positive socio-economic results in the first quarter
The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) grew by 8.07 per cent year-on-year, while the industrial production index rose by 12.17 per cent.
Several key products saw sharp increases, including leather footwear (up 45.69 per cent), industrial gas (up 37.79 per cent), and produced electricity (up 35.72 per cent).
Retail sales, service revenues, imports, and logistics activities also grew compared to the same period in 2024.
State budget revenue rose by 2.3 per cent, achieving 27.8 per cent of the year’s target.
Agricultural, forestry, and fishery production remained stable, with fishery output increasing and epidemic control well-managed.
The tourism sector saw strong recovery, with visitor numbers rising by 36 per cent and revenue up 40 per cent, reaching 23 per cent of the annual plan.
Social welfare initiatives were implemented effectively, especially during the Lunar New Year, and national defense and security were maintained, with military recruitment targets fully met.
However, the province continues to face certain difficulties, including unfavorable weather affecting agricultural production, unresolved issues in land clearance and compensation, and delays in public investment disbursement.
At the meeting, delegates discussed these challenges and proposed practical solutions to meet the development goals set for the second quarter and the full year 2025.
Key priorities include speeding up major infrastructure projects, addressing land clearance bottlenecks, supporting agriculture in adapting to weather changes, boosting investment attraction, and ensuring timely social welfare efforts.
Efforts in fulfilling the targets set for the year
At the conclusion of the provincial government’s regular meeting, Chairman, Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, called for greater determination and efficiency in implementing the province’s 2025 socio-economic development plan.
He praised the initial results achieved in the first quarter but emphasized the need to address ongoing challenges, especially in budget collection, public investment disbursement, and delayed projects.
Chairman Giang directed departments and localities to strictly follow central and provincial leadership, enhance administrative discipline, and ensure timely handling of procedures for citizens and businesses.
He also stressed the importance of social welfare, job creation, housing for low-income groups, and maintaining public security.
He urged all sectors to work in unity and take decisive, and coordinated actions to fulfill the targets set for the year.
