On April 14, the Provincial People's Committee hosted a traditional Bunpimay New Year Festival 2025 for Lao students studying in the province.
Attending the ceremony were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien, leaders of departments and sectors, the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Quang Ngai province and Lao students studying at universities and colleges in the province.
The programme featured traditional rituals such as the water-splashing ceremony to symbolise renewal and blessings, and the tying of sacred threads on wrists as a gesture of goodwill and fortune.
The Bunpimay Festival, celebrated annually from April 13–15, is the most important holiday in Laos, marked by prayers for health, happiness, and prosperity.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien extended New Year greetings to Lao students and said that, through the festival, Lao students could feel the warm and sincere affection of Vietnamese friends, teachers, and people of Quang Ngai.

The PPC’s Vice Chairman Vo Phien emphasized that the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the two Parties, the two States and the people of Quang Ngai province and the localities of Laos have been constantly consolidated, preserved and developed.
For the Party Committee, the government and the people of Quang Ngai province, the relationship between Vietnam and Laos in general, and Quang Ngai province and the localities of Laos in particular, is a special friendship and comprehensive cooperation, and need to be further enhanced.
In recent times, Quang Ngai province and Lao localities have coordinated in implementing practical and effective cooperation activities in various fields, especially in education and training, agriculture, culture - tourism, and national defense – security.
Since 2008, universities and colleges in Quang Ngai province have trained more than 800 Lao students. They will become a sustainable bridge between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between Quang Ngai province and Lao localities in particular.
On this occasion, the PPC and the Department of Education and Training presented New Year gifts to Lao students studying at universities and colleges in the province.
