On the morning of April 8, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, Tran Phuoc Hien—Head of Task Force 1252 for supporting and accelerating major non-budget investment projects—chaired a meeting to review issues related to the VNT19 Pulp and Paper Plant project.
As planned, provincial leaders will hold a dialogue with residents of Le Thuy Village, Binh Tri Commune (Binh Son District) to listen to their concerns, gather legitimate public feedback, and direct appropriate measures to ensure both the lawful rights of citizens and the stable operations of the project, while maintaining local security and order.
At the meeting, representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Ministry of Science and Technology, provincial departments, and VNT19 Pulp and Paper JSC will provide the public with updates on the project, particularly focusing on the installation of the treated wastewater discharge pipeline.
Vice Chairman Hien emphasized that the provincial government has previously held multiple meetings and issued directives to resolve outstanding issues related to the project.
While most obstacles have been addressed, the construction of the treated wastewater pipeline still faces challenges due to a lack of public consensus.
He assigned specific tasks to relevant agencies and local authorities, stressing the need for transparent, concise, and easy-to-understand communication with residents at the upcoming meeting to build trust and support for the project.
Effective public engagement is expected to help the project move forward, contributing to job creation and socio-economic development in the province.
