Addressing the meeting, Secretary Hồ Văn Niên acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of the Party organisation, authorities and people of Lý Sơn.
He emphasised that Lý Sơn holds a particularly important position in national defence, security and maritime sovereignty, and serves as a key space for marine economic development, tourism and distinctive cultural and historical values of the province.
He stressed that sustainable development of Lý Sơn requires a shift in awareness among officials, Party members and residents towards responsible tourism development, ensuring a safe and friendly environment for visitors.
Development must go hand in hand with safeguarding national defence and security, protecting maritime sovereignty, preserving the ecological environment and conserving unique cultural and historical values.
The Party Secretary called for stronger communication and mobilisation efforts to encourage the public to reject environmentally harmful products, with the entire political system actively involved in environmental protection.
He also urged efficient use of water resources, reduced use of harmful chemicals in agriculture, and greater focus on improving quality and branding for Lý Sơn’s signature onion and garlic products.
To realise the goal of making Lý Sơn a national marine and island tourism centre, the local Party Committee was urged to act proactively and creatively, maximise internal strengths and effectively mobilise investment resources, building Lý Sơn into a distinctive and sustainably developed island special zone worthy of its strategic frontline position.
He also requested close coordination with provincial departments and agencies to effectively implement the project on developing Lý Sơn into a marine and island tourism centre by 2030, with a vision to 2045, alongside strengthened planning, construction management, and protection of landscapes and the environment.
Lý Sơn, he said, should be developed into a bright, green, clean, beautiful and safe destination, while continuing to reinforce national defence and security, maintain political stability and social order, and improve human resources, especially the quality of key officials.
Secretary Hồ Văn Niên affirmed that Lý Sơn Island is a pride of Quảng Ngãi Province, calling on every official in the local political system to demonstrate strong determination and responsibility to drive the island’s robust development in the coming period.

On this occasion, he also visited and presented gifts to 20 policy beneficiary and disadvantaged households in Lý Sơn, and commended two local residents—Phan Duy Quang of Tây An Vĩnh Village and Lê Văn Sanh of Tây An Hải Village—for their courageous actions in rescuing people during Storm No. 13 in November 2025.
