Deputy Prime Minister Hồ Quốc Dũng has urged authorities to take immediate action to address the serious landslides in Ngọc Linh Commune, Quảng Ngãi Province, which have caused severe damage to local residents’ property and disrupted daily life.
During his working trip to Quảng Ngãi on October 31 to inspect disaster prevention and control efforts, the Deputy PM visited affected areas, met with residents, and offered encouragement and gifts to families impacted by the recent floods and landslides.
Accompanying him were representatives from the Ministry of National Defence, Military Region 5 Command, provincial leaders including Deputy Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Nguyễn Đức Tuy, and Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm and Đỗ Tâm Hiển.
The landslides have completely isolated five villages — Ngọc Nang, Mô Po, Sa Úa, Ngọc Lâng and Tu Răng — affecting more than 450 households with over 1,700 residents, and disrupting schooling for local students.
At the site, Deputy PM Dũng directed Military Region 5 to promptly deploy forces to assist local authorities and residents in repairing damage, restoring production, and ensuring safe temporary access routes to reconnect isolated areas.

He also ordered local authorities to focus on four urgent tasks:
Ensure no one suffers from hunger or cold and provide sufficient food, clean water, and essential supplies to isolated areas.
Mobilise medical teams and necessary equipment under the Ministry of National Defence and Military Region 5 to respond to any emergency situations.
Deploy engineering units to quickly clear landslide sites, build temporary bridges, and reopen roads, ensuring safe travel for residents, especially students.
Assign police and local militia to maintain round-the-clock watch at high-risk areas, warning people against crossing dangerous sites.

Deputy PM Dũng also asked local governments to promptly assess damages and provide timely support to help affected households restore livelihoods, including the supply of crop seeds, livestock, and farming materials.
He instructed the Central Government Office to work with the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee to compile a report on the disaster’s impact and propose funding to assist localities in recovering from the aftermath.
