QUẢNG NGÃI — In the wake of severe flooding across Quảng Ngãi Province, local authorities are focusing efforts on recovery and assistance to help residents quickly stabilise their lives.
On the morning of October 30, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Công Hoàng inspected flood-hit areas and recovery work in Tư Nghĩa Commune.
Prolonged heavy rainfall has caused deep flooding in many parts of the commune, affecting hundreds of households.
Local authorities have inspected all 25 hamlets, particularly those prone to prolonged inundation and isolation, to ensure safety and prevent casualties or property losses.
A total of 37 households, comprising 143 residents, have been temporarily relocated to safer, sturdier homes nearby.
The commune mobilised local forces to deliver relief supplies and assist residents in cleaning up and restoring their homes.
On October 29, authorities distributed 100 boxes of instant noodles and 100 cartons of bottled water to flood-affected households and those cut off by high water.
Several roads and bridges remain submerged, including Bốn Cấn Bridge in An Hà 1 Hamlet, La Châu River Bridge, Đình Bridge in An Hà 1, Sa and Rộc Hớn Bridges in Tân Hội Hamlet, and sections of the Tư Nghĩa–Vệ Giang inter-communal road.
Local civil defence teams have cordoned off flooded areas and deployed guards to ensure safety and prevent residents from crossing dangerous sections.
During the field inspection, Vice Chairman Hoàng noted that while water levels on rivers were receding, several residential areas remained deeply inundated, making daily life difficult.
He directed local authorities to mobilise all available resources to provide food, drinking water, and other essentials to affected residents, and to ensure timely evacuation if water levels rise again.
He also urged communes to regularly inspect and install warning signs in deeply flooded or hazardous areas, guide residents in flood prevention and safety measures, and promptly assess damage once the waters recede.
Priority should be given to repairing heavily affected infrastructure and restoring traffic flow.
Vice Chairman Hoàng visited several flood-hit households to encourage residents to overcome difficulties and praised local authorities and frontline forces for their proactive and dedicated response in protecting lives and assisting people during and after the floods.
