Chairman Nguyễn Hoàng Giang inspects flooding situations in Bình Minh Commune

On the afternoon of October 29, Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Hoàng Giang inspected flooding situations and response efforts in Bình Minh Commune.

Heavy rainfall and rising water from the Trà Bồng River have caused severe flooding in many areas, isolating several villages including Tân Phước, Tân Phước Đông, Mỹ Long An, Mỹ Long Tây, and Lộc Thanh. Local authorities promptly evacuated 19 households (54 people) to safe areas and relocated 345 households (over 1,000 residents) to safer locations nearby. On-site forces have provided food and essential supplies to support affected families until floodwaters recede.

Many roads in the commune remain deeply submerged and functional forces have established checkpoints to guide and assist residents moving through flooded zones. All students in the area have been temporarily suspended from school to ensure safety.

At the inspection sites, Chairman Nguyễn Hoàng Giang expressed sympathy for the difficulties faced by local residents and authorities working tirelessly to cope with prolonged flooding. He urged the commune to continue raising public awareness about proactive flood prevention, especially among residents in low-lying areas, and directed relevant forces to strictly follow established emergency response plans, acting flexibly and effectively to safeguard lives and property.

Giang emphasized that local authorities must stand side by side with the people, promptly providing food and essential goods to ensure no household suffers from hunger or unsafe conditions during the floods.

On this occasion, he also visited and encouraged affected families, calling on residents to closely monitor weather developments, limit travel, and take precautions to protect themselves and their property amid ongoing complex weather conditions.
