QUẢNG NGÃI — Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà on October 30 afternoon visited a major landslide site at Km 15+900 along Provincial Road 623 in Ra Nhua Hamlet, Sơn Tây Commune, Quảng Ngãi Province.
He was accompanied by Hồ Văn Niên, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, and leaders of relevant departments, agencies and local authorities.
According to the Sơn Tây Commune People’s Committee, a large landslide occurred on the morning of October 29, sending thousands of cubic metres of soil and rock crashing down and burying about 60 metres of the road.
Ten other landslide points were also reported along the route, completely cutting off the main traffic artery connecting the provincial centre with Sơn Tây Commune and isolating about 6,000 households.
Immediately after the incident, local authorities mobilised machinery and personnel to clear the debris.
However, the massive volume of soil and rocks, coupled with continued heavy rainfall, has made the restoration work extremely difficult.

After inspecting the site, Deputy Prime Minister Hà instructed military and police forces to work closely with local authorities to mobilise equipment and manpower to reopen the road as soon as possible, operating continuously from both ends of the blockage.
He also ordered that adequate essential supplies be delivered to residents in the isolated areas.
Hà stressed that as weather conditions remain complicated, the province must ensure food and necessities reach all affected households and no one is left hungry due to the road disruption.
He also requested Quảng Ngãi to develop long-term preventive and response plans to ensure safety not only at this location but also at more than 200 sites across the province identified as being at high risk of landslides.
During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister Hà made a phone call to residents in Sơn Tây Commune to inquire about their situation and encourage them to stay calm and trust in the support of the Government and local authorities.
He affirmed that the Government is fully committed to assisting Quảng Ngãi in overcoming the aftermath of the disaster and restoring normal life for local people as soon as possible.
