Quảng Ngãi, June 2- Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, chaired a working session with the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DOAE) to review results of implementing tasks in the first five months of 2025 and discuss upcoming key tasks.
At the meeting, the DOAE reported that its post-merger restructuring has been basically completed and operations remain stable with positive progress.
The 2024–2025 Winter-Spring rice crop saw over 38,200 hectares planted, yielding more than 236,000 tons.
Livestock farming has been stable with good disease control, and aquaculture output reached over 123,600 tons.
More than 7,800 hectares of forest were newly planted, maintaining a 52.7 per cent forest coverage rate.
The province now has 98 out of 144 communes recognized as new-style rural areas (68.05 per cent), and 12 meeting advanced standards.
The OCOP program has produced 282 certified products, including 2 potential 5-star items.
Efforts to eliminate makeshift housing have supported 5,580 of 6,543 households, with 3,460 homes completed.
Four localities have finished the program ahead of schedule.
Vice Chairman Hiền praised the Department’s proactive work and urged continued dedication, responsibility, and coordination to resolve issues in investment projects and maintain smooth public services amid the transition to a two-tier local government model.
He also emphasized accelerating digital transformation, especially in land and mineral data management, ensuring no loss or errors during digitization and administrative restructuring.
