QUẢNG NGÃI — Quảng Ngãi aims to complete plans for the management and use of all surplus public buildings and land by October 2026, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Đức Tâm said at a meeting on September 12.
The meeting reviewed the management, use and handling of surplus public property following the restructuring of the administrative apparatus and the implementation of the two-tier local government model.
Most of the properties have been transferred to the appropriate management agencies and are being used, or have completed preparations for utilization. However, progress in some localities remains slower than required.
Chairman Nguyễn Đức Tâm acknowledged the efforts of provincial departments, agencies and local authorities.
He stressed that all surplus public buildings and land must be properly managed and put into effective use.

The Chairman noted that the central government has now issued relatively comprehensive legal frameworks for managing and handling surplus public property.
The remaining requirement is for local agencies and authorities to demonstrate determination, initiative and responsibility in implementation.
The province will continue to accelerate the restructuring and handling of surplus public properties, linking the process with urban improvement and development in order to enhance the efficiency of public asset use and contribute to more orderly urban areas.
Chairman Nguyễn Đức Tâm requested all relevant agencies, units and local authorities to complete outstanding tasks and ensure that 100 percent of the plans for handling and utilizing surplus public buildings and land are completed by October 2026.
