On the morning of 18 November, Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà chaired the 22nd meeting of the National Steering Committee on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. Attending the meeting from Quảng Ngãi were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Đỗ Tâm Hiển and representatives of relevant departments and coastal localities.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in Week 46/2025, ministries and localities completed 55 of 99 assigned IUU-related tasks; 40 tasks remain in progress and 4 are behind schedule.
Fleet management continues to be strengthened, with 100 per cent of fishing vessels registered and over 76,800 licensed nationwide.
Inspection forces monitored 2,480 departures and 3,138 arrivals, supervising more than 11,500 tons of seafood through the eCDT system. No cases of vessels detained abroad were recorded. Since 2024, authorities have handled 40 of 71 vessels reported by EC and initiated three criminal cases related to IUU violations.
In Quảng Ngãi, 4.848 vessels are registered, with 100 per cent of the 4.729 active vessels licensed and updated to VNFishbase. Authorities continue controlling 119 vessels not meeting operating conditions and strictly monitor anchorage areas. Since early 2025, the province has recorded 28.536 departures and 27.415 arrivals and has strictly handled vessels failing to comply with port-entry requirements.

Five provincial fishing ports remain fully operational, handling 28.144 arrivals and 20.598 tons of seafood. A total of 140 confirmation dossiers and 78 certification dossiers have been issued for more than 4,500 tons via the eCDT system.
Quảng Ngãi has resolved 100 per cent of 1.842 VMS violation cases, imposing penalties on 759 cases (41.2 per cent). Since 2024, the province has imposed administrative fines on 686 vessels totaling VNĐ 40.8 billion and initiated two IUU-related criminal cases.
Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to strengthen inspection and supervision, address data inconsistencies, and standardize national fisheries databases. He also assigned the Government Inspectorate to review the legal framework on administrative sanctions and guide local implementation.
