QUẢNG NGÃI — Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Trần Phước Hiền has called on the agriculture sector to deliver concrete and measurable products in implementing Việt Nam’s national resolution on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

Chairing a regular review meeting on January 10, Hiền assessed the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, issued by the Politburo in December 2024, which aims to create breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation.

The meeting focused on the application of advanced technologies in agriculture and environmental management.

According to the Department of Science and Technology, Quảng Ngãi recorded notable progress in innovation and digital infrastructure in 2025.

The province’s Local Innovation Index (PII) reached 38.02 points, ranking 20th among 34 provinces and cities nationwide.

Digital infrastructure has expanded rapidly, with 5G coverage increasing from 10 per cent to over 90 per cent of the population through 532 base stations.

Full 5G coverage has been achieved across all communes, wards and the Lý Sơn special administrative unit, including key economic zones such as Dung Quất Economic Zone and VSIP Industrial Park.

All provincial-level administrative procedures are now available online, with public and business satisfaction rates exceeding 95 per cent.

In agriculture and environmental management, digital and high-tech applications have delivered tangible results.

More than 30,000 hectares of farmland now apply high-tech production methods.

All OCOP (One Commune, One Product) items have been integrated into digital platforms and equipped with QR codes for traceability, enhancing transparency and consumer confidence.

The sector has attracted 20 investment projects with total registered capital of over VNĐ3.55 trillion.

Digital transformation in forest management has emerged as a key highlight, with GIS systems, satellite imagery, UAVs and AI-enabled cameras deployed to monitor forest changes and detect fires and illegal logging.

Mobile-based decision support systems have also improved the speed and effectiveness of law enforcement.

Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairman Trần Phước Hiền stressed that implementing Resolution 57 must be treated as a core and continuous task for the agriculture and environment sector.

He urged the sector to shift away from broad and fragmented initiatives, instead developing clear monthly and quarterly action plans with specific outputs to be delivered in 2026.

He also called for the rapid development of a dedicated digital database to manage agricultural and environmental tasks in a more systematic and transparent manner.

Based on the sector’s reports, the Department of Science and Technology was assigned to consolidate recommendations and submit them to the provincial administration to ensure more effective implementation of Resolution 57 in the coming period.
