Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, Head of the Steering Committee for Key National Railway Projects chaired the committee’s third meeting on July 9.

Attending the online meeting from Quảng Ngãi were Provincial Chairman Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm, and members of the provincial site clearance committee for the North–South high-speed railway project.

According to the Ministry of Construction, since the second meeting on April 26, 2025, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers have assigned 48 tasks to ministries and localities. So far, 23 tasks have been completed.

The North–South high-speed railway will pass through 15 provinces and cities, including Quảng Ngãi.

Project documents, including route alignment and station boundaries, have been handed over to local authorities.

On June 27, 2025, the National Assembly approved Resolution No. 227/2025/QH15, allowing the project to be implemented under public-private partnership (PPP) and business investment laws.

The Ministry of Construction has submitted proposed investor selection criteria to the Government.

The meeting also reviewed progress on other major rail projects such as the Lào Cai–Hà Nội–Hải Phòng, Hà Nội–Lạng Sơn, Hải Phòng–Mống Cái, and urban railway systems in Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City.

In Quảng Ngãi, the high-speed railway will span over 86 km through 14 communes and 3 wards.

The planned route runs parallel to the existing railway and National Highway 1 (to the west, without intersections), and next to the North–South Expressway.

The provincial government has established a site clearance committee and assigned responsibilities to relevant departments and localities to meet the project's timeline.

In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister emphasized that railway projects are essential for economic growth, reducing transportation costs, creating jobs, and modernizing the country.

He urged ministries to finalize technical standards and investment mechanisms, and called on local leaders to take initiative in land clearance efforts.

A coordinated campaign to begin land clearance for the Lào Cai–Hà Nội–Hải Phòng railway and the North–South high-speed railway will be launched on August 19, 2025, aiming for completion by the end of 2026.
